Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao said the measures taken by the BRS government in the past had increased agriculture and cotton production in the State, with the current Congress government just continuing to ride on former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s success.
Sharing a few details of rice and cotton production in the State, the former Minister said on X: “Telangana stood at No.1 in rice production and No.3 in cotton production for the year 2023-24…”
According to the Ministry of Agriculture’s final estimates of major agriculture crops during 2023-24, Telangana emerged as the largest rice producing State in the country with 168.75 lakh tonnes. In 2022-23, Telangana produced 158.77 lakh tonnes and was ranked second in rice production.
Likewise, in cotton production, Telangana made its mark. The State produced 50.8 lakh bales of cotton in 2023-24 and was ranked third among the top cotton producing States in the country.
