Congress tries damage control after ‘secret meeting’ of MLAs, says it was just ‘dinner meeting’
Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi says the meeting was held at ITC Kohinoor and not in a farmhouse, accuses opposition parties of trying to blow the episode out of proportion
Hyderabad: Trying to cover up the unrest triggered by the secret meeting of a few Congress MLAs, Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi said it was just a dinner meeting and charged that opposition parties were trying to blow it out of proportion.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi on Saturday, the Congress MP said the meeting was held at ITC Kohinoor and not in a farmhouse.
He also clarified that it was for 10 MLAs, but only eight had attended. The MP also said he had personally spoken to all the MLAs.
“One of the MLAs said to others that he had some work, which needed to be addressed by a Minister. Accordingly, the other MLAs assured to jointly approach the Minister and fix the problem,” Mallu Ravi is seen saying in a video that is going viral on social media platforms.
But the entire episode was blown out of proportion and coloured as if the MLAs had gathered to raise their voice against the State leadership.
The opposition parties were trying to mislead the people through their social media channels, he charged.
However, the Telangana Congress is expected to seek an explanation from all the MLAs who attended the meeting.
“There is every possibility of the State leadership seeking a clarity and explanation from the MLAs. If it is not done, a wrong message will go out to the party workers,” a senior leader from the party said.
