Convict’s release exposes Nitish doublespeak: Owaisi
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the release of gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh by the Bihar government.
HYDERABAD: Questioning the release of gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh by the Bihar government, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi felt that the release of a person convicted for the murder of Gopalganj district magistrate G. Krishnaiah reminded him of the release of Bilkis Bano’s rapists in Gujarat.
He described Anand Mohan’s release as the second murder of the Telangana-native IAS officer, who was murdered in 1994.
Speaking to media persons at Darussalam on Thursday he felt that the Bihar government amending the prisoner’s manual clause to facilitate the release of Mohan exposed the claims of the Nitish government about social justice.
“Nitish is touring the country by projecting himself as a PM candidate. Will you tell the people that you are supporting a person who has murdered a Dalit official? Civil servants posted in your state will think twice in supporting the government,” Owaisi said.
Questioning the silence of Bihar’s IAS Officers’ Association, Owaisi felt that it should have condemned the measure and should have by the family of the slain Dalit officer.
“This is a clear case of how corruption and criminalisation of politics are a phenomenon in Bihar. Nitish and RJD leaders should answer what kind of social justice they are achieving with this,” he said, demanding that Nitish Kumar review the decision by reversing the amendment made to the jail manual which facilitated Mohan’s release.
