Kothagudem: The CPI (Maoist) Telangana State Committee has announced that the ongoing ceasefire has been extended for another six months.
In a statement released to the media on Monday, the party’s official spokesperson, Jagan, said that in accordance with the aspirations of political parties, social organisations, and people’s organisations, the Maoist party had declared a ceasefire in May. During the past six months, peace was maintained.
“As the people of Telangana want peace to continue, the ceasefire has been extended, and the Telangana government should also respond accordingly, as it has done in the past,” Jagan said. He also alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was trying to disrupt the peace achieved through the ceasefire.
He appealed to people’s organisations, student organisations, and intellectuals to fight against the Centre’s efforts to disturb the peace in the state.
