CPI’s Narayana slams Revanth Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu for neglecting socially-relevant films

CPI National Secretary K Narayana lashed out at CMs Revanth Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu for backing commercial films while ignoring message-driven cinema like R Narayana Murthy’s University, which addresses unemployment and paper leaks. He called their priorities shameful

Hyderabad: CPI national secretary K Narayana on Thursday came down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu, saying both leaders should feel ashamed for extending special benefits to commercial films while ignoring socially-relevant cinema.

In a video message, Narayana pointed out that veteran Tollywood director R Narayana Murthy’s film ‘University’, which highlights the struggles of unemployed youth due to paper leak scandals, failed to receive any support or encouragement from either of the Telugu States.

He criticised the Telangana government for permitting ticket price hikes and special screenings for the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s film ‘Hari Hara Veeramallu’ and similar feature films in the past.

The CPI leader accused both governments of favouring movies that glorify “sandalwood smuggling, black money, and murders” instead of promoting content with strong social messages.

“Rather than backing a director like Narayana Murthy, who consistently raises public issues through cinema, the two governments are rewarding films with questionable themes. Both Revanth Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu should feel ashamed and learn from Narayana Murthy,” the CPI leader said.
