Hyderabad: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar turned 52 today. The ‘God of cricket’, who had been a household name for years, was born on April 24, 1973.
He made his Test debut on November 15, 1989, at the age of 16. Just a month later, on December 18, he played his first ODI match. During his tenure, Sachin scored 34,357 runs in 664 international appearances at an average of 48.52 — making him the highest run-scorer in international cricket.
He scored 100 centuries and 164 half centuries in his cricket career making a world record. Sachin still remains the only player to score a century of centuries.
In ODIs alone, he scored 18,426 runs, including 49 centuries and 96 fifties. In Tests, he scored 15,921 runs, with 51 centuries and 68 fifties. He was the only cricketer to play 200 Test matches and also first player to score a double century in ODIs and the.
He also played a key role in winning the title of 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup that fulfilled whole nation’s dream. The cricket legend retired from all formats of the game in 2013.
