
Cyberabad traffic police caught 466 people for drunk driving during weekend checks. Most were two-wheeler riders. A local court fined, jailed, or ordered social service for offenders. Police warned of strict action under Section 105 of BNS for fatal accidents
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad traffic police on Saturday conducted drunken driving checks and caught 466 persons who were found driving in an inebriated condition.
Among those caught are 344 two-wheeler riders, 15 three-wheeler drivers, 104 four-wheeler drivers and 3 heavy vehicle drivers.
Around 20 people recorded BAC levels ranging from 301mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml. All the persons will be produced before the court concerned.
Meanwhile, a local court disposed of cases of 336 persons who were caught and booked for drunken driving. Of them, 19 persons were imposed a fine and sentenced to jail term, 32 persons were asked to pay a fine and do social services, while 285 persons were let off after paying a fine.
The Cyberabad police warned that drunk driving is a dangerous practice and if anyone causes a fatal accident in an inebriated condition will be booked under Section 105 of BNS (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
