Don’t Blame Rohit Or Kohli, It Was Dhoni’s Fault As He Made Winning ICC Trophies Look So Easy

Dream of billions of Indian fans came crashing down as India lost to England in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. More than the defeat, what has triggered the supporters the most is the manner in which Team India lost.

Rohit Sharma didn’t even care to put up a fight and surrendered in front of a mighty impressive England whose leader Jos Buttler led them by example.

The Indian captain, on the other hand, continued with his misery in the knockout matches of the ICC event and produced a horrendous batting performance, which put unnecessary pressure on other batters.

Miffed with his shambolic performance throughout the tournament, the fans have been slamming him left, right, and centre on various social networking platforms.

More than his batting, it’s his clueless captaincy which has made him a villain in the public eye. When the England openers caught Rohit off guard by starting their onslaught right from the first ball, the Indian captain went into a defensive mindset.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was getting a little bit of swing upfront, was asked to bowl with the keeper standing up into the stumps, thus restricting his ability to do what he is known for.

When the team is winning, even the flaws are pushed under the carpet. And sadly, India kept winning bi-lateral series one after the other in the build-up to the tournament and people thought they were finally ready to take the next step and end nearly a decade-long wait for an ICC trophy.

There are many who would come to his defence saying this drought was mainly due to Virat Kohli, who captained the side for the majority of this period.

Rohit’s fan army would argue that the 35-year-old is still new to the role and we should give him time, just like his predecessor Kohli.

To them I would say, we shouldn’t blame either of them. None of them is responsible for turning India into new chokers of world cricket.

#captaincy #dhoni

they praise rohit sharma for his captaincy in ipl and blame dhoni for his perfomance

i just want to know where is mi lobby

there is huge difference between international cricket and IPL

I think kohli was better captain than sharma pic.twitter.com/TpJdZ9p0Jj— Abhay (@Abhay58291030) November 10, 2022

It was MS Dhoni’s fault that he won ICC trophies for fun and made it look so easy. It was his fault that he gave Indian fans the belief that the Men in Blue can become world champions. It was his fault that he took Indian cricket to new heights and increased Indian fans’ expectations.

It was his fault that he didn’t care about a player’s big reputation and showed them the exit door to accommodate talents like Kohli and Rohit, who would go on to become the focal point of Indian cricket.

It was Dhoni’s fault that he prioritised his country above everything else and missed the birth of his daughter Ziva during the 2015 ODI World Cup.

It was his fault that he always put the team above himself and didn’t promote himself to bat higher up the order when being at the helm of Indian cricket.

It was his fault that he gave up the captaincy in the longest format when he was a few matches away from completing 100 Tests – which is considered an elite club in Indian cricket.

It was Dhoni’s fault that he, apart from focusing on the present, also had a vision for the future and he didn’t shy away from making tough decisions throughout his career, without caring about what others would say about him.

Everything is Dhoni’s fault.
