EC stands for ‘entirely comprised’: Aaditya Thackeray’s sharp dig at poll body
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday slammed the Election Commission over its recent order recognising the Eknath Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena, and referred to the EC as “entirely comprised”.
On February 17, the poll body recognised the Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena in its tussle with the Uddhav Thackeray camp and allotted it the party’s ‘bow and arrow’ poll symbol.
“We are seeing the darkest days of democracy. Unelected and unconstitutional government is ruling Maharashtra. Election Commission is entirely compromised,” Thackeray said in an exclusive interview with Times Now.
Commenting on the alleged attack at Sena leader Sachin Bhosale during campaigning in Pune for upcoming bypolls, Thackeray said that the state Home Minister should take action.
“The ‘gaddar gang’ (referring to rebel Sena MLAs) is behaving in unruly manner. Sachin Bhosale has suffered shoulder dislocation. The (state) Home Minster should take action against the attackers and arrest attackers,” he said.
Reacting to the arrest of Congress leader Pawan Khera over his objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sena leader said, “We are somewhere at the end of democracy. The way he was deplaned is not acceptable.”
Hitting out at Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray wondered if Shine is Maharashtra’s CM or Gujarat’s CM. He was referring to the shifting of two multi-crore projects – Tata-Airbus and Vedanta-Foxconn – to Gujarat from Maharashtra.
“I challenge the government to take out white papers and show how many companies have come to Maharashtra under their leadership. Multiple opportunities of employment have gone to Gujarat,” he alleged.
