Enhanced security measures for IPL matches in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police said spectators heading to watch the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches from Sunday would not be allowed to carry laptops, banners, water bottles, cameras, cigarettes, electronic items, matchboxes, lighters, sharp metal or plastic objects, binoculars, batteries, helmets, perfumes, bags and outside eatables

Metro Rail timings had been extended till 1 am for spectators. There would be no diversion of general traffic, entry of heavy vehicles would be restricted during match hours.

The police said they had posted 1,500 personnel to provide security to seven matches that will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (RGIC) at Uppal between Sunday and April 18.

Rachakonda police commissioner D.S. Chauhan said 340 CCTV cameras had been installed at several places in and around the stadium, on the roads and in the parking areas.

He said a joint command and control room had been established to monitor the footage in real time. Police has deployed anti-sabotage and bomb detecting teams. SHE Teams and anti-harassment squads would be in place.

Parking has been banned on the main road from Genpact to Uppal ring road and from the ring road to Vishal Mart, Ramanthapur. He said signage boards had been erected on the roads leading to the stadium to aid spectators.

The number of ambulances on stand by had been increased to seven, and four fire engines  would be stationed at the stadium.  A team to supervise rates charged by vendors was in place.

Chavan said 215 traffic personnel would guide vehicles headed for the stadium where an eight-sector traffic management plan had been put in place.

He said parking lots had been allocated, and parking would be on a first come first serve basis.

The routes for spectators heading to the stadium:

Route- 1: Secunderabad -Habsiguda -Tarnaka – NGRI

Route 2: Amberpet -Ramanthapur -NSL Arena

Route – 3: LB Nagar – Nagole -Uppal x road – KV 1 school

Route – 4: Warangal highway -U-turn Rajyalakshmi -Uppal x road -KV 1 school.

Parking

Around 18 parking locations will be available for four and two-wheelers using route -1 based on the category of tickets. They can park their vehicles at Penguin textile, Genpact lane and NGRI metro station.

Spectators coming from Amberpet, Ramanthapur, LB Nagar and Warangal highway will be allowed to park on either side of KV school to DSL mall, police mall cellar, Eenadu office lane,  LG godown to NSL (both Sides) and open land of DSL.

Spectators will be allowed to enter access roads to the stadium from Ek minar masjid road, stadium road opposite LG godown and Hindu office road (opposite Genpact).
