Hyderabad: Debunking the spread of false news regarding the felicitation of Megastar Chirnajeevi in UK Parliament, a fact-check news is making rounds on social media.
Though, there is no dispute that the Chiranjeevi was honoured in the UK Parliament, but the award was not conferred by the UK Parliament itself, but from a London-based NGO Bridge India.
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Public Service through Cultural Leadership was presented to Megastar Chiranjeevi by Pratik Dattani, founder of Bridge India, hosted in a rented room within the UK Parliament to conduct the event.
Addressing the misinformation, Silas Scott, the media relationship manager at the U.K. Parliament issued a press release clarifying that the award was not an official recognition of the U.K. Parliament but rather an honour from the London-based NGO.
This clarification came in response to the post on social media platform X by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Chiranjeevi’s brother Pawan Kalyan, who had mentioned that the “award given by the UK Parliament has enhanced his brother’s glory.”
Meanwhile, the Telugu actor shared his heartfelt gratitude for the award presented by the Bridge India team at the House of Commons in UK Parliament. The award was presented to the actor in the presence of esteemed members of the UK Parliament and diplomats on March 19.
