Hyderabad: A fake social media account misusing the name and logo of HYDRAA has triggered controversy, with allegations of misinformation being spread against BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Telangana Digital Media former director Konatham Dileep exposed the issue, highlighting that the X handle ‘@HYDRAA_TG’ was posing as an official account, using the Telangana government emblem and also the HYDRAA official logo, misleading citizens. Following the revelation, the account changed its bio to ‘Not an official handle’.
The fake handle had amassed over 9,500 followers by sharing official updates and even tagged posts to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office and the HYDRAA Commissioner.
Dileep also flagged a suspicious phone number linked to the account, questioning whether the Congress IT cell was behind the operation. He urged authorities to take swift action against those misusing government symbols for political propaganda.
Responding to the netizens, HYDRAA posted on its official X handle ‘@Comm_HYDRAA’, clarifying that it was apolitical and unbiased. The officials declared that ‘Hydraa Warriors’ and its posts had no relation to HYDRAA and any posts linking the organisation with politics will be dealt legally. However, there was no clarity whether any action was initiated against the said ‘Hydraa Warriors’.
