Food poisoning cases have become common under Congress rule: Harish Rao

Demands immediate action against those responsible for food poisoning incident at Erragadda Hospital, quality treatment for speedy recovery of patients

Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao expressed deep anguish over the food poisoning incident at Erragadda Hospital, where 70 people reportedly fell ill and one patient lost his life. He demanded immediate action against those responsible and provide quality treatment for speedy recovery of patients.

Holding the Congress government responsible for its gross negligence, Harish Rao said food poisoning had become disturbingly common in institutions under Congress rule, be it Gurukuls or government hospitals. He questioned the competence of the State government in hospital maintenance. “Is the government so inefficient that it cannot ensure safe food for patients undergoing mental health treatment?” he asked.

He demanded answers from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Health Department, holding them accountable for the death. He criticised the inhuman delay in providing quality treatment to the affected.

Condemns police misbehaviour against farmer

Harish Rao strongly condemned the manhandling of an elderly farmer by police at Khanapur Tahsildar’s office in Nirmal district, terming it a disgrace to governance under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Questioning the need for such harsh treatment, Harish Rao lashed out at the police for dragging and grabbing the neck of the elderly farmer. He demanded to know whether this was the model of people’s governance the Congress government claimed to uphold.

The BRS MLA reminded that while the tribal farmers were handcuffed in Lagacherla earlier, and the police forces have now throwing out farmers, by suppressing their voices. Calling the act cruel and unjustifiable, the BRS leader urged the Director General of Police to take immediate action against the officers involved and demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress government to the farming community of Telangana.
