Gandhi Hospital launches initiative to address issues on cleanliness, lifts, amenities, toilets for patients

This was following a news report ‘Gandhi Hospitals calls for attention’ that was published in these columns

Hyderabad: The management of Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Secunderabad on Wednesday launched an initiative to address issues related to cleanliness, lifts, amenities and toilets for patients, following a news report ‘Gandhi Hospitals calls for attention’ that was published in these columns.

The doors to the lift pits, which were left open dangerously for the past several weeks at Gandhi Medical College, have been sealed shut. The hospital authorities maintained that orders have been already placed for the new lifts and by June/July new lifts will be installed at the medical college premises.

Senior officials also informed the cleaning-up works related to toilets and washrooms were taken-up on a war footing. The facilities will also be thrown-open for patients, their attenders and regular visitors to the hospital.

A lot of Construction and Debris (C&D) waste, which was dumped within the main Gandhi Hospital block, is being removed and it would take a day or two to complete the process, authorities said.

“It would take us a few more days to ensure the entire C&D waste is removed and deposited at some other place. Works related to improving amenities, water facilities and better washrooms are underway,” senior officials from Gandhi Hospital said.
