Hyderabad: In the wake of the recent electrocution incident in which five people were electrocuted during Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) has urged all Ganesh mandapas in the city to adhere strictly to proper safety standards in their electricity arrangements.
Speaking to presspersons here, BGUS President, G Raghava Reddy and BGUS General Secretary, Ravinuthala Shashidhar, said the government will provide free electricity to every pandal and organisers must ensure that certified professionals carry out all electrical installations in mandapas, using quality materials and adhering to TGSPDCL guidelines.
“BGSU will form 160 Ganesh Action Teams (GAT) to coordinate with pandal organisers and during immersion within a radius of 303 km in coordination with 18 government departments. The 46th Ganesh immersion will be held on September 6 in the city and 1.40 lakh Ganesh pandals may install Ganesh idols,” said Shashidhar.
This year, BGSU promotes the ‘Swadeshi’ inspiration concept and urged pandal organisers to use local, indigenous products and organise various programmes that showcase Indian culture and heritage richness.
