Supporters of Enugu Ravinder Reddy stage protest accusing Pocharam Srinivas Reddy of being involved in irregularities
Nizamabad: Group politics in the Banswada constituency unit of the Congress came to the fore again with supporters of former MLA Enugu Ravinder Reddy accusing former Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy of being involved in different irregularities. They staged a protest at the District Collectorate on Friday.
Ravinder Reddy has been vociferously opposing the entry of Srinivas Reddy into the Congress. Supporters of both the leaders have been at loggerheads over several issues. On Friday, supporters of Ravinder Reddy accused that the turncoat MLA Srinivas Reddy was offering contracts to his followers and violating rules.
The District Collector had issued instructions to MPDOs to identify different works to be taken up under MGNREGS programme and finalise the agency in the Gram Sabha meetings. However, the MLA was exerting pressure on the MPDOs and directing them to allot works to others, Ravinder Reddy’s followers alleged.
In protest against the MLA’s attitude and irregularities, an appeal was made to the District Collector and a representation was submitted accordingly to Additional Collector Kiran Kumar. Videos of Ravinder Reddy’s supporters staging protests have gone viral over social media platforms.
All the irregularities, especially unauthorised sand mining and diversion of CMR rice, being conducted by the MLA would be exposed. If the District Collector’s orders were not implemented, protests would be staged on a large scale at the Collector’s office again in a couple of days, they said.
“The MLA is blackmailing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy that if his interests were not safeguarded, he will jump back to the BRS. The issue will be taken up before AICC incharge Meenakshi Natarajan,” they said.
