Gujarat Elections Results 2022: Isudan Gadhvi, Hardik Patel, Rivaba Jadeja, key candidates latest updates

Gujarat Elections Results 2022: BJP leads in 146 seats, Congress leads in 21 seats and AAP leads in 10 seats. The counting will take place in 37 counting locations to tally the votes for the 182 Assembly members. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) entered the election arena this time, making Gujarat’s election a three-cornered race rather than the state’s usual struggle between the BJP and Congress. 624 independents and a total of 70 political parties participated in the election. 101 candidates from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and 26 from the Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) ran against the main competitors BJP, Congress, and AAP.

1. AAP’s Isudan Gadhvi, Chief Ministerial face: Gadhvi was picked after popular choice of AAP. He is leading in his constituency – Khambalia while the party’s Gujarat unit chief is trailing. Gadhvi had said earlier this week: “Difficult to predict results through exit polls… (but) BJP won’t form government. We will win over 51 seats in phase 1 and over 52 in phase 2. Exit polls will be proved wrong… BJP is declining in the state,” While casting his vote earlier in the day, he had said: “I expect AAP to win 51+ of 89 seats in first phase and 52+ in second.”

2. AAP Gujarat president Gopal Italia: Italia is contesting from the Katargam in the Surat district. The poll performance of both the leaders is being keenly watched with the AAP having held an extensive campaign in the state. Even as Gadhvi had predicted win for his party in more than 100 of 182 seats in the state, early trends showed that AAP was leading in less than 10 seats.

3. Hardik Patel: BJP leader and Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel has locked horns against Congress’ Lakha Bharwad – who is the sitting MLA from the constituency.Hardik Patel is trailing by 169 votes at the Viramgam seat. Aam Aadmi Party leader Amarsinh Thakore is leading here, as per the early trends. “No riots/terrorist attacks here in past 20 yrs. People know BJP met their expectations. They press ‘Lotus’ as their future will be safe under BJP. It did good governance&strengthened this trust,” he said earlier.

4. BJP’s Rivaba Jadeja: Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, was fielded from here replacing sitting MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (Hakubha). As per the latest trends, BJP candidate Rivaba Jadeja, cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, has slipped to the 3rd place. The Aam Aadmi Party is leading at the Jamnagar constituency as of now.

5. BJP Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel: He is leading with 23,713 votes in Ghatlodia. Bhupendra Patel is up against Amee Gajnik of the Congress and Vijay Patel of the AAP.

Exit polls: Exit polls had predicted a huge mandate for the BJP in the state. This will be seventh term for the party in Gujarat. Early trends on Thursday were in line with predictions for the AAP too.
