Harish Rao demands Congress govt to clear pending bills to Gurukuls, supply uniforms

Harish Rao said Gurukul schools, which were once a model for the nation under the BRS regime, were now facing challenging times under the Congress rule

Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao criticised the Congress government for ruining the condition in Gurukul schools across Telangana.

Demanding the immediate release of pending dues to contractors and rent arrears for Gurukuls operating in private buildings, he said essential supplies, including food and uniforms, were being halted due to non-payment.

In a statement, Harish Rao said Gurukul schools, which were once a model for the nation under the BRS regime, were now facing challenging times under the Congress rule. Due to non-payment of pending bills since January this year, the supply of eggs, meat, and bananas had been stopped.

“The contractors have already warned that from July 1, all food supplies will be suspended unless dues are cleared,” he said.

The former Minister said that due to the Congress government’s apathy, the health and education of lakhs of SC, ST, BC and minority students are under threat.

“More than Rs 450 crore in rent dues remains unpaid for last 13 months. In some cases, building owners are locking the schools. Even after months into the academic year, students are yet to receive uniforms, shoes, or school bags, forcing them to wear torn or repaired uniforms,” he pointed out.

Calling this a gross failure of the Revanth Reddy government, Harish Rao demanded urgent intervention to protect the future of underprivileged students.
