Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha on Tuesday directed senior officials of the Health Department to conduct a thorough investigation over the alleged kidney transplant racket at a private hospital in Sarooragar.
Following the raids taken up by Rachakonda Police and district health officials at Alaknanda Hospital in Saroornagar for its alleged involvement in the organ trading racket, the Health Minster, at a review meeting on Tuesday evening, directed health officials to ensure strict action is taken on doctors, hospital management and other individuals who were directly involved in operating the kidney racket.
The Health Minister also directed the health officials to intensify inspections at private healthcare facilities across Hyderabad and districts under the Clinical Establishment Act.
“There is a high-level Task Force Committee that is already involved in overseeing the functioning of private hospitals under the Clinical Establishment Act. This high-level committee must intensify inspections and raids at all the private healthcare establishments in the coming days,” Damodar Raja Narasimha said.
