Sathini Gnaneshwar says it took many years and a lot of practice for him to lift the rock
Sangareddy: Holi brings a challenge to youth of Turkapally in Narayankhed mandal every year. They will have to lift a 108-kg rock and go around the Hanuman temple in the village on the festival day.
Sathini Gnaneshwar (30), working as a mechanic, lifted the rock for the sixth consecutive year amid cheers of the villagers on Sunday. Gnaneshwar said that it took many years and a lot of practice for him to lift the rock. He said that he would continue the tradition until his body permits him.
The rock was made some 20 years ago. No one succeeded in lifting it until he made the successful bid in 2019.
