Hyderabad: In a gruesome incident, an ex-serviceman allegedly killed his wife, chopped her body into pieces and cooked them in a pressure cooker before dumping them into a lake at Jillellaguda, Meerpet, in the city.
Full details of the crime, which came to light on Wednesday, are yet to emerge. According to the police, Guru Murthy (45), a native of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, briefly worked for the Army and currently works as an outsourced security guard with the DRDO in Kanchanbagh.
He lived in a rented house with his wife Venkata Madhavi (35) and two children at New Venkateshwara Nagar Colony in Meerpet. As per available information, the couple had been having frequent arguments for the past several days.
Madhavi went missing on January 18 and Murthy informed the same to her family members, who had lodged a missing person complaint with the Meerpet police. Murthy accompanied his in-laws to the police station for lodging the complaint and pretended to be clueless of the whereabouts of his wife. He also supported the police in searching for her.
However, over suspicion, the police detained Murthy for questioning and he confessed to the killing during interrogation. The Meerpet police visited the spot and examined it. A murder case was booked and an investigation is under way. Murthy was arrested.
