Hyderabad: An intermediate student died by suicide at her house after her mother did not shift her to a junior college of her choice.
M Gauri (16), a resident of Mailardevpally lived along with her mother Nirmala and elder sister, who is doing her degree course at a private college.
Around a year ago, Nirmala filed a dowry case against her husband Chandra Mouli and since then, the couple are staying separately. The children are staying with Nirmala.
“Gauri asked her mother to shift her to a different college but Nirmala, expressed her inability to do it citing financial problems. On Tuesday, when Nirmala went out to a local court on some work, the girl hanged herself to the ceiling fan in the house and ended her life,” said an official of Mailardevpally police station.
Basing on a complaint made by the woman, the police registered a case and are investigating.
