Hyderabad: Malkajgiri railway station redevelopment works under way in full swing

Being taken-up under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the redeveloped station will provide all modern passenger amenities
Hyderabad: The complete redevelopment of Malkajgiri Railway station with an approximate cost of Rs 27.61 crore is under way in full swing, South Central Railway (SCR), General Manager, Arun Kumar Jain, during an inspection of the works on Saturday said.
Being taken-up under “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme” (ABSS), the redeveloped Malkajgiri railway station will provide all modern passenger amenities. “Overall, 70 per cent of the proposed works have so far been completed. Simultaneously all the works are in fast progress and are targeted to be completed in this year,” SCR said.
The SCR GM said that the redevelopment works include improvement of station building façade, provision of entrance portico, construction of FoB, lifts and escalators, platform surface improvements, improvements to waiting hall, landscaping in circulating area, circulating area improvements, depicting art and culture in station premises and provision of passenger friendly signages, train indication boards.
Jain also reviewed comprehensive measures undertaken by officials to ensure the smooth movement of passengers and instructed the officials that in view of redevelopment works involving significant infrastructural modifications to provide adequate security enhancements and passenger assistance initiatives.
