Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force (west) team caught a man who was allegedly involved in attention diversion cases. The police recovered Rs. 5.16 lakh from him.
The man Intipally Rama Rao alias Ramu (30) a graphic designer and a native of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh stayed in the city.
“Ramu would approach people at ATM centers and tell them that he is in urgent need of money and that his ATM card has declined withdrawals. He offered to transfer the amount to them through NEFT and IMPS transfer and would collect the cash from unsuspecting persons. To make them believe, Ramu would show a pre-edited message in his phone that the transfer was successful,” said Task Force DCP, Y V S Sudheendra.
Ramu was previously involved in 55 cases.
