Hyderabad: In one of the major drug busts in recent times, the Cyberabad Narcotic Police Station (CNPS) of the EAGLE team, with the help of Khammam police, seized 847 kg of marijuana worth Rs 4.2 crore and arrested two persons on Monday.
The joint operation dismantled a major interstate trafficking network operating from Malkangiri in Odisha to Uttar Pradesh via Telangana and Karnataka.
Following a tip-off, police intercepted a Mahindra Bolero vehicle near Shamshabad and caught Khilla Dhana (29) and Rajendar Bajing (26), both from Odisha.
Police said that on verification, the duo had prior drug trafficking records. They were involved in a sophisticated network led by an absconding coordinator, Ramesh Sukri, and a buyer from Uttar Pradesh, Shaffiq. The syndicate used precise methods, including specialised packaging and communication, to transport drugs across the States.
The suspects and the seized material were handed over to the Rachakonda police for further action.
The case is under investigation.
