A local court sentenced Govind Omprakash Sukla to five years’ rigorous imprisonment and a Rs 10,000 fine for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl in 2019. The court also awarded Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the victim.
Hyderabad: A local court sentenced a man to five years rigourous imprisonment in the sexual assault case of an eight-year-old girl child reported at Meerpet in 2019. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
The convict Govind Omprakash Sukla alias Govind (45), who runs a stationary shop, confined the girl in his shop when she came to buy stationary material. He further made sexual advances and sexually assaulted her.
Based on the complaint from the girl’s father, the Meerpet police booked a case and arrested Govind.
The court also awarded a victim compensation of Rs 1 lakh.
