Hyderabad: A transgender who had self immolated during a protest at Borabanda on Monday last week died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Sunday early hours.
The transgender Heena (22), a resident of Borabanda along with a group of transgenders held a protest at Borabanda bus stand demanding action against Monalisa, a transgender who is a leader of another group. During the protest, a group of transgenders had doused themselves with petrol and set ablaze. Eight of them sustained burns and were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. On Sunday, Heena, who was admitted in the hospital, died on Sunday morning. Another transgender Neha, had passed away during treatment two days ago.
Following a complaint, the Borabanda police arrested a transgender Monalisa on Wednesday and remanded her.
