Hyderabad: In a tragic development, Sai Eshwar Chari, the youth who attempted self-immolation demanding the implementation of 42 per cent reservations for Backwards Classes (BCs), succumbed to his burn injuries at Gandhi Hospital on Friday.
Sai Eshwar had attempted suicide by setting himself on fire outside a YouTube channel office run by MLC Chintapandu Naveen alias Teenmaar Mallanna near Uppal in Medipally police station limits on Thursday late evening.
As per information available, Sai Eshwar (32) from Jagadgirigutta, who reportedly suffered over 90 per cent burns, had died around 1 pm, while undergoing treatment. Despite continuous efforts by the medical team in the burns ward, his condition deteriorated overnight.
Following his death, BC organisations and community leaders began assembling in large numbers outside Gandhi Hospital, raising slogans and demanding immediate action from the government. The body has been shifted to the morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Chilkalguda police have deployed additional forces around the premises to prevent any untoward incidents and are continuously monitoring the situation.
