Hyderabad: The Income Tax Department has been carrying out searches at the corporate offices of Googee Properties and Developers in Hyderabad and several other places since Thursday morning.
Similar searches were conducted at the offices of Anvita Builders in the city.
As per available information, the companies are on the Income Tax department’s radar for allegations of tax evasion.
The I-T officials had carried out searches at the offices of Googee Properties in February 2023 too.
Googee is a real estate company, which has a diversified portfolio of construction and handloom textile businesses in the city as well as surrounding districts.
On Thursday, special teams searched the residences of the managing directors and directors of these firms in Jubilee Hills, Raidurgam, Kollur and Sangareddy.
Nearly 30 teams of I-T officers were involved in these raids.
Googee Properties and its sister firms are owned by Yasmeen Fathima and Akbar Shaik.
The officials had been closely monitoring the investments of these companies for quite some time.
Sources in the IT Department said the companies are under investigation for alleged violation of I-T rules and financial irregularities.
Akbar had contested the previous Assembly elections from the Malakpet Assembly constituency but lost to Ahmed Balala of the AIMIM.
