ICC T20 World Cup: Pakistan storm into final

Pakistan beat New Zealand by seven wickets to book their place in the final of ICC T20 World Cup.

On Thursday, India will meet England in Adelaide to see which of them will join Pakistan in the final.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was awestruck by the crowd support during his team’s T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday, November 9 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Both Babar and Rizwan went on to score half-centuries, but it was Rizwan who won the Player of the Match award for scoring 57 runs off 43 balls with five fours.

Babar said that the pitch had become a tad slower after the powerplay. He also heaped praise on the fast bowlers for making a tremendous start.

“Thanks to the crowd. We feel like we’re playing at home. Got a good start with the first 6 overs with the ball. Later on, the ball didn’t come on well. Fast bowlers finished well. We planned before going that we’d utilise the powerplay,” Babar was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Moreover, Babar heaped praise on Mohammad Haris, who played three back-to-back knocks of substance in the mega event. The right-handed batter scored 30 runs off 26 balls with two fours and a six against the Kiwis.

“He’s a young guy and showing his aggression (Haris). He’s playing very well. We’re going to enjoy this moment. But at the same time have to focus on the final,” he added.

Pakistan now await their opponents in the final that will be decided after the match between India and England on Thursday at the Adelaide Oval.
