Impressive voter turnout in Coastal Karnataka areas

Mangaluru: In the Karnataka Assembly elections, the coastal districts of the state is recording an impressive voter turnout. Voters turned up in large numbers to exercise their franchise in the morning. Even in rural areas there were long queues of enthusiastic voters.
Dakshina Kannada and Udupi recorded more than 28 percent voting, surpassing the state average of 20.99 percent as per the data at 11 am.
Udupi registered the highest voter turnout of 30.26 percent, followed by Dakshina Kannada (28.46 percent), while Uttara Kannada, another coastal district, recorded 25.46 percent.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai cast his vote at the Government Kannada Higher Primary School, in Shiggaon of Haveri district. Before casting his vote, the chief minister visited Sri Anjaneya Temple in Hubballi, Parshwa Padmalaya Dham Jain Mandir and Sri Gayathri Devi Mandir in Shiggaon to offer prayers. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his family members.
The state BJP Chief, Nalin Kumar Kateel, exercised his franchise at St Aloysius English Medium Higher Primary School in Urwa, Mangaluru.
