Income Tax survey at BBC office in Delhi ends after 60 hours; BBC sends another memo to staffers in India

The Income Tax survey at British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) office in Delhi has ended after 60 hours.

The IT department has collected some documents from the BBC office. The tax agency has prepared an inventory of all financial records of BBC for past six odd years.

The department has given a hash value of electronic equipment taken for “cloning”. The agency is likely to issue a statement on the ‘raids’ either tomorrow or day after. The IT survey began at the BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai around on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, BBC sent another memo to staffers in India. Times Now has accessed the latest memo by BBC’s top boss, sent earlier on Thursday.

“I know this continues to be a very stressful and upsetting experience for you and your families and it will take time to process what has happened. We will be in touch when the survey has finished with more details,” the memo read.

“I want to say thank you for continuing to stay off social media. We’re aware some staff have received disturbing messages via social media– please see the BBC’s online abuse guidance and make sure you report anything of this kind as it should not be tolerated,” the memo further said.
