Indian-origin Nikki Haley favoured over Biden, trails Trump in US prez race: Survey
Indian-origin Republican leader Nikki Haley, who recently announced her 2024 Presidential bid, has favoured President Joe Biden but is trailing badly against Donald Trump in a hypothetical match, the Rasmussen report said. Nikki Haley, 51, is the two-term Governor of South Carolina and the former US Ambassador to the United Nations.
“After announcing her 2024 presidential campaign, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley leads President Joe Biden in a hypothetical matchup, but badly trails former President Donald Trump among GOP voters,” the report read. The latest opinion poll was released based on a survey conducted between February 16 to 19.
“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the 2024 election were between Haley and Biden, 45% of likely U.S. Voters would vote for Haley and 41% would vote for Biden. Ten percent (10%) say they’d vote for some other candidate,” the report read.
Among the Republicans, she comes at third position after Trump (52 per cent) and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (24 per cent).
However, as per the survey, Haley has the support of 18 per cent of the Democrats, reflecting her outreach and support base outside of her traditional Republican party.
The report suggests Haley received 18 per cent of the Democratic support to Biden’s 74 per cent in a hypothetical faceoff.
