Hyderabad: A new controversy has emerged around Hi Nanna, one of 2023’s most loved films starring Nani, Mrunal Thakur and Kiara Khanna.

Directed by debutant Shouryuv, Hi Nanna was praised for its comforting feel and appeal to all age groups.

However, nearly a year after its theatrical and OTT release, Kannada filmmaker and producer Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah has alleged that Hi Nanna is an unofficial remake of ”Bheemasena Nalamaharaja”.

Directed by Karthik Saragur and produced by Pushkara himself, the Kannada film was released directly on Amazon Prime in 2020, skipping its theatrical release.

Pushkara took to Instagram, claiming that Hi Nanna was made without purchasing remake rights. He wrote, “Without taking #RemakeRights, Hi Nanna is made from our original movie #BheemaSenaNalaMaharaja.”

He even tagged Nani in a harsh statement, saying, “What a cheap thing to do, Nani.”
