IT officials continue searches against benami investments by realtors

HYDERABAD: Officials from the income-tax (IT) department, probing the alleged benami investments in real estate companies, continued raids for the second consecutive day at different places, including in the city, on Thursday.
Around 30 teams of I-T officials conducted raids on the offices and the directors’ residences of Kohinoor Infra and other real estate firms in Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai apart from different business establishments associated with Kohinoor infra in the city.
They were also looking into the nexus between political leaders and real estate companies.
The officials went through books of records to find out the investments, purchase and sale of properties. I-T officials also conducted raids on the residence of one Mazeed Khan in the city and collected his bank account details, business activities and amounts deposited into several accounts. The Kondapur residences of Kohinoor chairman and directors were also searched.
