‘It’s Foolishness’: R Madhavan Shares Why ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ Remake Could Be A ‘Bad Idea’

For years, ‘Rehnaa Hai terre dil mein’ fans have been manifesting a remake or a sequel. Lead actors Dia Mirza and R Madhavan dropped several hints of a potential remake.

In a new interview, R Madhavan called the move ‘foolishness’ as he ‘wouldn’t want to touch’ the movie.

However, the actor hopes that the team wanting to attempt the remake can ‘surprise’ the audience. Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001) is a romantic drama film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon.

The film stars R Madhavan, Dia Mirza, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. The film is a remake of Gautham’s Tamil film Minnale, which also starred Madhavan. The film has a loyal fan base, emerging as a cult classic over the years.

Actor R Madhavan has commented on the potential remake of Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, which was his first film in Hindi. In a recent interview, R Madhavan called the decision “foolishness” since he “wouldn’t want to touch” the film.

In 2001, Gautham Vasudev Menon wrote and directed the romantic drama movie Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein. Saif Ali Khan, Dia Mirza, and R Madhavan play the lead roles in the movie.

The movie is a remake of Minnale, a Tamil film by Gautham in which Madhavan also starred. The movie has a dedicated following and, over time, has become a cult classic.

“I think it’s foolishness, and that’s my opinion. I wouldn’t want to touch that. I wouldn’t do it as a producer. I wish them all the very best from the bottom of my heart, I do. And I hope they surprise because nothing in the industry can actually be predicted, but it has a lot of memories attached to it for a lot of people. For the audiences, it is more than a movie. It is sort of an anthem in some ways. It’s like almost saying that 15 years from now you want to remake 3 Idiots. I don’t think it’s a sensible… let me just put it again – I think it’s a brave decision.”

Talking about himself, Madhavan said,

“I am not the kind of guy who looks back often and kind of evaluates one’s life about what has happened. I am actually a very live-in-the-moment kind of a guy. So I am grateful that I have had the ability with my work and the love of the public, to do what I want to, and when I want to – that freedom being a rarity. But I don’t gloat over it. I am just grateful for it.”
