K Chandrashekhar Rao to mark 25 years of BRS with massive public meeting in Telangana’s Warangal on April 27

Event being planned as a turning point in Telangana politics; party leadership preparing to take on both Congress-led Telangana government and BJP-led Centre

Hyderabad: Marking the 25th anniversary of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), party chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced plans for a massive public meeting in Warangal on April 27.

The event, expected to draw lakhs of supporters, is being planned as a turning point in Telangana politics, with the BRS leadership preparing to take on both the Congress-led State government and the BJP-led Centre.

A crucial meeting was held at Chandrashekhar Rao’s Erravelli residence on Friday, where party leaders deliberated for over eight hours on the political roadmap ahead. He said the silver jubilee celebrations were not just about the BRS’ foundation, but represent the aspirations of the Telangana people. He asserted that under the Congress rule, the State has witnessed rising dissatisfaction and uncertainty, proving that only the BRS can provide strong governance and protect Telangana’s interests.

During the meeting, the former Chief Minister said Telangana was achieved after decades of struggle and sacrifices, and for 10 years, the BRS had set an example of governance. However, he said the progress made under his administration was now being undone by the Congress regime. He called upon party workers to mobilise people in large numbers for the Warangal rally, which will serve as a platform to expose the failures of the Congress government.

“The BRS party is not just a political entity, as it belongs to the Telangana people who consider it as their own. Today, people who believed in the Congress’ promises during elections, feel deceived. They are looking back at the BRS for help and are ready to bring it to power, whenever elections come,” he declared.

The meeting also resolved to hold constituency-wise preparatory meetings leading up to the Warangal event. Special committees will be formed to oversee the preparations, ensuring maximum participation.

After the Warangal meeting, the party is gearing up for a major structural revamp. Plans are in place to strengthen the organisation from the village to State level. Chandrashekhar Rao directed the party leaders to chalk out an action plan to form new committees across all levels of the party, with a representatives body comprising the in-charges of these committees.

Special emphasis will be placed on increasing the participation of youth and women in the party’s activities. The meeting also focused on the evolving political scenario in Telangana and at the national level.

The BRS chief and senior leaders discussed key strategies to counter the Congress government in the State and the BJP at the Centre. They analysed past political shifts, identified mistakes and discussed corrective measures to strengthen BRS’ position.

Chandrashekhar Rao raised concerns over the consistent neglect of Telangana’s interests by successive governments led by both the Congress and the BJP at the Centre. He charged both the parties for failing to safeguard Telangana’s rights. The meeting emphasised the need for stronger BRS representation in Parliament to effectively voice the State’s concerns.

“No matter which party is in power at the Centre, Telangana has always been ignored. The lack of a strong Telangana-based force in Parliament has resulted in continued injustices. The people must understand this and elect BRS MPs in Parliament, to represent their voice at the national level,” he said.
