Karimnagar: The Karimnagar Police on Wednesday issued a lookout circular against an NRI on charges of threatening and demanding Rs.20 lakh from Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam.
According to the police, Yasa Akhilesh Reddy made threatening calls to the legislator. A native of Bhavaninagar, Boduppal of Rangareddy, Akhilesh is staying in London. Police said the MLA received WhatsApp calls from an unknown number (447886696497) on September 28. The caller demanded Rs.20 lakh and warned to blame him politically if he failed to arrange money. The accused also warned to kill him, after which the legislator lodged a complaint with Kothapalli police, who began investigation by registering a case under Sections 308, 351(3), (4) of BNS.
In the investigation, it was found that it was Akhilesh Reddy who made the threat calls to the MLA and demanded money. Police then issued a lookout circular through the Bureau of Immigration, Karimnagar Rural ACP Venkataramana said.
