Karimnagar: Karimnagar Commissionerate police have arrested six members of a motorcycle theft gang and recovered 33 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs.12.27 lakh from their possession.
Addressing the media on Friday, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam detailed the arrest and investigation. The suspects were apprehended during a routine vehicle-checking drive conducted by Town-II and CCS police near Padmanagar in the early hours of the day. Officers grew suspicious upon noticing six individuals travelling on two motorcycles and detained them for questioning.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to lifting motorcycles from various locations within Karimnagar Commissionerate limits and Rajanna Sircilla district. The gang was involved in 22 cases registered across six police stations.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Panthula Naveen of Mahabubnagar; Penti Balu of Chokkaraopalle in Ganneruvaram mandal, Karimnagar; Peddi Nagaraju of Mallial; Chandurthi mandal of Sircilla; Chindam Saiprasad of Kesanapalli in Manthani mandal; Thota Madhu of Lingampalli in Gangadhara mandal; and Kumbala Suresh of Ellanthakunta in Sircilla.
Commissioner Gaush Alam appreciated the efforts of Town ACP Venkataswamy, Town-II Inspector Srujan Reddy, CCS Inspector Srinivas, and other police personnel who played a key role in tracking and arresting the gang.
