Hyderabad: Remembering Telangana icon and poet Kaloji Narayana Rao on his birth anniversary, BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid tributes, recalling his literary legacy and lifelong association with the people’s struggles.
In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao said Kaloji shared the hardships of society through his writings and stood firmly against injustice and oppression. He recalled his association with the poet and urged the youth to draw inspiration from Kaloji’s spirit while confronting the misdeeds of rulers.
He said Kaloji’s literary journey, deeply rooted in Telangana’s language and dialect, became synonymous with the region’s social life and its assertion of self-respect. He recalled that Kaloji’s spirit of defiance against injustice also inspired the movement for statehood.
The former Chief Minister said the previous BRS government observed Kaloji’s birth anniversary as Telangana Language Day and instituted annual Kaloji Narayana Rao awards to honour poets and writers for their contribution to Telangana literature. He also recalled naming the State Health University after the Telangana poet.
