Stresses on augmenting efforts to end preventable maternal, newborn deaths, prioritise women’s long-term health and well-being
Kothagudem: Kothagudem Government Medical College’s (GMC) Department of Community Medicine organised a health awareness walk with medical students marking World Health Day-2025.
Speaking on the occasion, college principal Dr Raja Kumar and Community Medicine Department head Dr Vanitha Yeldi said that annually World Health Day was being celebrated on April 7 since 1950 marking the formation day of World Health Organisation (WHO).
The day draws attention to a specific health topic of concern across the world. This year’s theme was ‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures’. It lays focus on augmenting efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths as well as to prioritise women’s long-term health and well-being to help every pregnant woman and baby survive and thrive, , Dr. Raja Kumar said.
As many as 200 MBBS students of third and first year participated in the walk shouting slogans and displaying placards to increase awareness about the theme. Senior Resident, Community Medicine Dr Hruday Chandu, Biochemistry HoD Dr Ratnamani, Anatomy HoD Dr Prasanna and others took part in the rally.
