Kothagudem: The Kothagudem district police have taken up several initiatives aimed at the welfare of tribal communities, especially migrant youth from agency villages, said Additional SP (Operations) G Narender.
As part of these efforts, Gundala police, in coordination with Transport Department officials, facilitated the issuance of driving licences to 100 tribal youth from Gundala mandal. The licences were formally handed over by Narender during a programme held at Gundala on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Narender said the police were committed to empowering tribal youth through a range of initiatives such as organising sports competitions, conducting medical camps, and offering coaching for government job aspirants.
He urged youth from the agency areas to stay away from alcohol addiction, citing several incidents where individuals lost their lives in accidents caused by drunk driving. He also noted that many were being caught without licences during routine vehicle inspections.
The Additional SP assured that similar driving licence drives would be taken up across all police station jurisdictions in the district. He appreciated Gundala Circle Inspector L Ravinder and Constable Shankar for their dedicated efforts in facilitating the issuance of licences.
Yellandu DSP N Chandrabhanu, Gundala SI Rauf and other officials were also present.
