KTR demands blacklisting cough syrup manufacturer after deaths in Madhya Pradesh

BRS leader KT Rama Rao condemned the deaths of seven children in Madhya Pradesh after consuming toxic cough syrup, demanding strict action. He also criticised BJP’s Double-Engine Sarkar model, citing corruption in Gujarat and Maharashtra as examples of systemic failure

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao was outraged over the deaths of seven of nine children in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district after consuming a toxic cough syrup. The syrup, Coldrif, reportedly contained a highly poisonous industrial chemical.

“This is pure criminality,” he said on X, demanding that both the company responsible and the approving authorities face strict action. “Blacklist the company, throw all the perpetrators in jail and set an example to others,” he said, tagging Union Health Minister JP Nadda in his post.

In a separate swipe at the BJP, Rama Rao targeted the party’s much-touted Double-Engine Sarkar model, citing reports of widespread corruption in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

“Institutionalised corruption and innovative mitigation strategies. Both in Double-Engine Sarkars,” he quipped, referring to media reports of Gujarat officials accepting bribes in instalments and builders in Mumbai negotiating “discounts” on payoffs with municipal authorities.
