Pa Ranjit, famous for his films like Thangalaan, Kaala and Kabali among others, made a post on his X account, appreciating the movie.
In his post, Ranjit wrote “Happened to watch #BadGirl, and it’s truly a bold and refreshing film! Director #VetriMaaran deserves immense credit for backing such a daring story. The film powerfully portrays women’s struggles and society’s expectations through a unique new wave cinema style. Congratulations #varsha (sic).”
Responding to Pa Ranjit’s post, another Tamil filmmaker Mohan G Kshatriya, who is criticised for glorifying regressive ideas in caste-based films, wrote “Portraying a brahmin girl personal life is always a bold and refreshing film for this clan. What more can be expected from vetrimaran, Anurag kashyap & Co.. Bashing Brahmin father and mother is old and not trendy.. Try your own caste girls and showcase it to your own family first (sic)”.
The teaser of the film showcases a young Brahmin girl Ramya, who has always wanted to have a boyfriend. But when she gets one and gets intimate with him, she is shamed for it.
While Anjali Sivaraman plays Ramya, Bad Girl also features Shanti Priya , Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Harron among others. Popular music director Amit Trivedi marks his Tamil debut with this film.
