Sangareddy: A man was missing after reportedly being swept away in the Narinja stream at Potpally in Jharasangam mandal on Monday evening.
The victim, identified as Bonala Bhaskar (45), a resident of Potpally, is said to have entered the stream to offer prayers to goddess Ganga as the stream came alive for the first time this rainy season. Witnesses said he ventured deeper into the fast-flowing waters and was swept away.
Police, along with fire, irrigation, revenue and other department officials, searched for him until late on Monday night but were unable to trace him. The search operation resumed on Tuesday morning.
