Kothagudem: The first additional district judge (POCSO special judge additional in-charge) S Saritha on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a man to life imprisonment in a POCSO case.
A woman of Tippanapalli village in Chandrugonda mandal in her complaint to Chandrugonda police alleged that Syed Lalu alias Lal Mia of the same village had raped a minor girl on August 6, 2023.
Inspector of Police M Ravi registered a case and DSP Sheikh Abdul Rahaman filed a charge sheet in the court after investigation. Fourteen witnesses were examined in the court. Syed Lalu was found guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him or one year simple imprisonment. The prosecution was conducted by special public prosecutor PVD Lakshmi. Court nodal officer SI D Raghavaiah, liaison officer S Veerabhadram (court duty officer) and B Lakshman assisted.
