Man who stole Pringles defends act before police: ‘Once you pop, you can’t stop’

A 40-year-old man who was caught for stealing 17 Pringles cans told the police that “once you pop, you can’t stop,” which is the brand’s slogan.

A snack thief with a penchant for Pringles was caught by police after a string of thefts in Nottinghamshire in England. The 40-year-old man, who stole 17 tubes of Pringles, explained his drive to the officials, saying “once you pop, you can’t stop” – the brand’s well-known slogan.

Pringles is a brand of stackable potato-based snacks, which has become a favourite for many worldwide.

The man, Adam Spencer, was caught by the police in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He confessed to the officers that his crime spree began in April, targeting supermarkets in the area, the BBC reported.

He hit Tesco on Alfreton Road first, followed by Asda on Priestsic Road. In early May, he broke into another shop on Priestsic Road, took meat products, and then returned for a second helping worth over £300 (approximately Rs 32,000).

Police say it was during one of these raids that Spencer stole the 17 cans of Pringles.

Nottingham Magistrates’ Court convicted Spencer and awarded community service as punishment, ordering him to pay £200 (approximately Rs 21,000) in compensation. He will also have to complete a six-month drug rehabilitation program.
