Manish Sisodia returns to Tihar Jail after 7 hours, fails to meet ailing wife

Manish Sisodia left for Tihar Jail from his residence on Saturday without meeting his ailing wife after she was rushed to Delhi’s LNJP hospital as her health deteriorated. The former Delhi deputy chief minister was granted interim relief  for 7 hours in the Delhi excise policy case to meet his ailing wife.

Sisodia reached his residence in Delhi’s Mathura Road in the morning after he was granted bail from 10 am to 5 pm but could not meet his ailing wife. Sisodia’s wife is suffering from multiple sclerosis, a potentially disabling disease of the brain and central nervous system.

As per inputs, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader remained in house custody at his residence and was later taken back to Tihar Jail.

Manish Sisodia had sought interim bail for six weeks citing his wife’s poor health. The Delhi High Court has reserved its order on the bail plea and asked the LNJP hospital about the health condition of his ailing wife.

Sisodia’s legal counsel informed the court that although Sisodia went home, he could not meet his wife as she had to be taken to LNJP hospital after her health deteriorated. The high court sought her medical report from the hospital.

Sisodia remained under house arrest at his residence in Mathura Road and he was not allowed to meet anyone except his family members. He was also not allowed to use the internet or interact with the media.

Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 in the Delhi liquor policy case. On March 9, the ED arrested Manish Sisodia in the same case, after hours of questioning at Tihar Jail.

The Delhi government implemented the new liquor policy on November 17, 2021 but scrapped it at the end of September 2022 amid allegations of corruption. The senior AAP leader is being probed by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate over alleged corruption and money laundering.
