Marvel releases emotional trailer for Stan Lee movie

Marvel has dropped a trailer that will tug on superhero fans’ hearts as the footage released shows the “origin story” of Stan Lee.

Titled Stan Lee, the documentary pays tribute to the life and talent of the man who created some of the biggest names in comic book and movie history.

Landing on Disney+ on June 16, the movie is: “His origin story. His legacy. In his own words.”

The American comic book writer, editor, publisher and producer is synonymous with Marvel, having co-created leading crime fighters such as Spider-Man, the X-MenThor and the Avengers, to name a few.

Now for the first time, fans will get a full feature on the creator and will be able to see a collection of interview segments with him and those close to him and see footage from the early days of Marvel.

The 90-second trailer features Marvel comics through the ages, and during a black-and-white section showing footage from the 1920s and 1930s, Lee voices the start of his creative origin story.

He said: “We didn’t have any money, it was during the Depression, but I would read everything I could get my hands on.

He continued: “What I tried to do was write the kind of stories I would want to read.”

A commentator in the trailer referred to Lee as always being “upbeat” and said they never saw him “angry.”

Several behind-the-scenes clips are shared showing him laughing with Marvel talents, such as Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd, as well as footage of his multiple cameo appearances in Marvel films.

Another voiceover of Lee plays as more clips of the creator on set are shown: “There are so many bad things in the world that if you can entertain somebody for a while, it is a good thing.

“If you really want to change things and make them better, you have got to plunge in.”
