Milad-un-Nabi preparations in full swing across Hyderabad

The community groups are set to organize blood donation, fruit distribution, cloth donation, religious meetings and competitions in Islam related topics

Hyderabad: Hectic preparations are underway across the city for Milad-un-Nabi falling on September 16. The day marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed and is celebrated on the 12th day of the month of Rabi ul Awal, the third month of Hijri calendar.

On the day, the community groups organize blood donation, fruit distribution, cloth donation, religious meetings and competitions in Islam related topics. Food is also served to the poor and the destitute at camps organized at different places.

Around two dozen blood donation camps are scheduled to be held in next two days in the city to mark the occasion.

Mohd Akram, a social worker said the blood donations camps are being held in coordination with several non-governmental organizations at Asafia Library Afzalgunj, Prime Function Hall Mallepally, Rajendranagar, Falaknuma, Khilwat and other places.

Maulana Ahsan Al Hamoomi, Khateeb, Shahi Masjid, Public Gardens said people should do something that benefits the humanity. At the public garden, he took up plantation of fruit saplings on Friday where public representatives and officials participated.

A few youth organizations have taken up the task of distribution of education material and stationery among children in government managed schools in the city. Some social organizations are planning to visit Katedan Industrial Area and distribute snacks, umbrella and footwear among the workers mainly women.

“It is joyous occasion and people who work hard to serve the society must be remembered. We plan to visit the factories and gift footwear and umbrellas among the women workers,” said Mohd Aamair, a volunteer of Akhirath Welfare Society.

Several public meetings are scheduled to be organized at mosques and function halls to mark the occasion while mosques and streets across Hyderabad are being illuminated.

In view of the Ganesh immersion procession scheduled for Tuesday, the organizers of the Central Milad Juloos (procession) have rescheduled their rally to Thursday on the request of the State administration.

The procession is usually taken out on Milad un Nabi from Mecca Masjid and several tributary processions join the main procession on the day.
